Step out of your everyday and into a weekend designed to slow your pace, settle your mind and reconnect you with nature. This two-day woodworking course invites you to create something small, beautiful and utterly satisfying: a handcrafted three-legged milking stool made from sustainably sourced Ash or Oak.

Level: Beginners
Making the Milking Stool
Across two full days, you’ll shape the seat and legs with traditional hand tools, learning how to use a spokeshave and drawknife with confidence. You’ll assemble your stool, refine every surface, and finish it naturally so it becomes a piece you’ll treasure for years. No previous woodworking experience is needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to get hands-on.

Course Fees
The two-day course is £250 and includes all materials plus hand tools to use at the school.
Practical Information
This course is for very small groups of up to 4 women.
The school is set on the grounds of Scotney Castle. The course runs from 9AM until 5PM, with an hour lunch break and two tea breaks. Please do bring a lunchbox.
