The courses

Choose from either:

Teaching and tuition

Peter Quin, principal lecturer, has been a practising cabinet maker and teacher for more than 25 years.

Paul Crudge brings with him over 10 years' experience of working in the John Makepeace workshops.

Barry Feldman is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and has been a practising furniture designer/maker for over 25 years.

Certification

The full-time course leads to two professionally recognised Level 2 certificates in Furniture Making and Machine Woodworking. Both awards are validated by the City & Guilds of London.

To date, all of our students have been successful, achieving distinction grades in both practical examinations.

Small group sizes

These courses benefit from small group sizes that do not exceed six students. This allows for personal tuition and demonstrations.

Teaching environment

The teaching takes place in purpose-designed furniture-making and machine woodworking workshops, set on the beautiful estate of Scotney Castle.

Professionalism

Students benefit from learning in a fully-functioning workshop where commissioned furniture is made to the highest standards.

Courses

We offer a range of courses to suit the specific requirements of students. Whether you have no experience of furniture-making, or are looking to further your existing skills, we will work with you to develop the course to meet your needs.

Applicants of all levels are welcome, from the beginner to the more serious practitioner.
